Directors UK & Second Light: Directors Lab - Leeds DEADLINE EXTENDED

Are you 16-25 years of age? Do you have some experience of making films? Would you like the opportunity to learn from Award-winning directors just exactly what the role of a professional director is? Then the Directors UK & Second Light’s: “Directors LAB” could be for you.

The Directors LAB will offer you the opportunity to learn all about the role and work of the director through all stages of production from development and pre-production, production and post-production to understanding the directors vision, working with crews, DOP’s, actors and editors. It will also offer practical advice on how to build a career as a director.

Delivered through a series of guest speakers, exercises, case studies, project work, discussions and practical exercises participants will spend 3 days getting to grips with what it takes to be a director.

The Directors LAB aims to support aspiring filmmakers in learning the craft of directing. This opportunity is targeted at self-motivated and self-achieving young filmmakers aged between 16-25 years, applications are especially welcome from those from diverse backgrounds currently under-represented within the film industry.

DATES: Friday 31st August – Sunday 2nd September. Each day will run from 9-6pm and you must be available to attend all 3 days. Lunch will be provided.

COST & LOCATION: The course will take place at a studio in Leeds. This course is free of charge to successful applicants. Some discretionary bursaries to assist with travel and childcare may be available. Successful applicants can request a bursary application form once accepted onto the scheme.

a one page cv or bio (including filmography) a completed application form & diversity monitoring form (download links available below) A DVD of one complete film, film extract or similar no longer than 15 minutes that you want to represent your work as part of your application. Photocopy of photo I.D (passport, driving licence or similar)
