Directors UK would like to invite Full and Associate members to apply for an outstanding networking opportunity with Nutopia, creators of America The Story of Us.
When: Thursday 17 May 2018, 6.30 – 8.30pm.
Where: 1st Floor, Kirkman House, 12-14 Whitfield St, London W1T 2RF
Nutopia is an international production company known for creating ground-breaking shows on a global scale.
Nutopia has a long track record for producing extremely high quality drama documentaries, such as the Emmy-winning America Story of Us for A&E. More recently they have been pushing the genre and developing scripted historical dramas. Working with teams of writers and script editors, drama producers and drama directors. They are working with a range of clients from Netflix to established US networks such as Nat Geo and A&E. Budgets and schedules are a little tighter than premium drama. So worth keeping this in mind when considering whether this kind of series is of interest to you.
Nutopia are really interested in meeting:
- Established drama directors who might be interested in taking the lead and establishing the vision on a fact based drama.
- Drama directors who have a track record in independent film making and are interested in getting television credits, particularly with the streaming platforms.
- Drama directors who might have a track record in independent short films.
- Established drama directors who have a track record in continuing dramas and are therefore comfortable with faster turnaround times.
The meeting will be attended by Simon Willgoss (Head of Development), Nicola Moody (Development Executive Producer), Peter Lovering (Executive Producer), Dominic Crossley Holland (Executive Producer) and Ben Goold (Executive Producer).
Please apply by sending an email to [email protected] including a CV, link to your Showreel, top two or three directing credits and/or an indication of the programmes you are most proud of.
This need only be a short paragraph, and will be sent in advance to Nutopia.
Please note: the only way to be considered is to contact Directors UK at the email address above – don’t contact Nutopia directly.
Spaces are extremely limited, so apply now.
Application deadline: Tuesday 8 May, 12 noon.
Directors UK aims to develop a more diverse directing talent pool and would particularly welcome applications from women and members of the BAME communities, as these are under-represented groups within the industry.
