Every Last Child is the latest feature-length documentary from Directors UK board vice-chair, Tom Roberts. Ahead of its world premiere at the NY DocFest, Tom gives us an outline of the film:

"Have you got a spare couple of billion dollars? That was always the opening line of the pitch for my latest film, Every Last Child, the story of the heroic efforts to finally, and forever, eliminate polio from the face of the earth.
The battleground is Pakistan, the last of 3 countries with endemic polio - its has 90% of the cases. The heroes of the film are unlikely: poor women in the Karachi suburbs paid a couple of dollars a day to vaccinate children whose colleagues have been gunned down by the Taliban; committed doctors receiving chilling death threats; WHO staff working beyond the point of exhaustion.
Just one last push... and a couple of billion dollars and this scourge that cripples children - for life - will be gone forever".
