Film the House 2020, parliament’s annual cross-party film competition, is now open for entries — and Directors UK is thrilled to sponsor the award for Best Film Direction for a second year.
Film the House is an annual competition run by MPs to discover filmmaking talent, and also highlight the importance of creativity and intellectual property rights to both MPs and creators. A panel of industry experts will select the finalists for a range of categories that cover scriptwriting, directing, and overall short film, for both under-19 and over-19 age groups.
Earlier this year, we were thrilled to present the first ever Directors UK Awards for Best Direction to Morgan O’Connell and Souvid Datta, at a special ceremony hosted by Helen Lederer at the House of Commons. You can read about the event here.
As well as being backed by Directors UK, Film the House is supported by ALCS, Netflix, Viacom, The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. Entertainment. Its parliamentary sponsors are Tracy Brabin MP, Giles Watling MP, and Lord Tim Clement-Jones.
The winners will be announced early next year, with prizes including BBFC classification, private screenings, expert mentoring and a cash prize. The deadline for entries is 16 November 2020.
