Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close earns Oscar nomination for Best Picture

Stephen Daldry’s Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close has been nominated in the Best Picture category for the Academy Awards.

Extremely Loud..., an adaptation of the novel by Jonathan Safron Foer, is nominated alongside eight other films in total: The Artist, The Descendants, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life and War Horse.

Further recognition for British directors came in the Best Documentary, Shorts field, with Lucy Walker picking up a nomination for The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom. Walker was previously nominated for an Oscar last year for full-length documentary Waste Land.

There was also a nomination for British director Grant Orchard, for his film A Morning Stroll, which was selected in the Best Short Film, Animated category.
