On Monday 11 December, the nominees for the 75th Annual Golden Globes were announced at a live ceremony hosted at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The Best Director - Motion Picture category features two Directors UK members among the nominees.
Member Martin McDonagh is nominated for his direction of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (you can catch up with our screening and Q&A of the film here). Meanwhile Ridley Scott is nominated for All the Money in the World, which was re-shot on a tight schedule to include Christopher Plummer in the lead role vacated by Kevin Spacey.
Joining them in the Best Director - Motion Picture category are Steven Spielberg for The Post, Guillermo Del Toro for The Shape of Water, and Christopher Nolan for Dunkirk.
The directing shortlist has received criticism for its notable lack of female and BAME filmmakers.
We would like to congratulate the aforementioned members on their nominations, as well as the talented crews of UK productions across both the motion picture and television categories. A full list of the nominees can be found here.
