Biography
Luca is an award-winning Italian writer/director based in London. He writes and directs fiction and his debut feature script, Deep South, was recently selected as UK WINNER at the JETS Initiative within the 2023 BERLINALE Film Festival, where it was picked by major commissioners and sales agents for development and shortlisted by the London PFM 2024.
His latest short film, Warriors of Sanità, had a successful festival run, winning the Grand Prize at the OSCAR and BAFTA qualifying Rhode Island Film Festival and Best Short at the Giffoni Film Festival. The film was acquired by RAI CINEMA for release on its platforms and picked up by OMELETO for their channel, where it was released globally and received more than 47,000 views at the time of writing.
Luca is a DIRECTORS UK member and was recently commissioned to write and direct a short film for the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. The film went on to become a semi-finalist at the BIFA-qualifying Kino London 2024, Best Comedy Award Finalist at the Portland Comedy Film Festival, where it will screen in October, and was picked up for streaming by MYMOVIES, Italy's biggest film platform.
He is currently being mentored by BAFTA-winning director Jonny Campbell (Westworld, Dracula) under the Directors UK INSPIRE program, where he had the fantastic opportunity to shadow him on the set of his feature film for STUDIO CANAL, Cold Storage.
