Biography
Shan was born and raised in Hong Kong. She studied Literatureat the University of Hong Kong before relocating to London.She has been a producer/director at the BBC for eleven years.Her works have been broadcast on BBC 2, BBC World, BBCLanguage Services, BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 4, 6 Music andAsian Network. She was nominated for Best Director by BBCAudio Awards for her debut BBC 4 Radio Drama, Tiger Girls, in2018/9. In 2021, she directed The Good Earth, a BBC4 twoparts radio drama.Currently, she is in pre-production of her first feature,Second First Love, due to be shot in August 2022, withsecured distribution from California Pictures. Duringlockdown, she also wrote her second feature, Displacement,which has been optioned by a renowned Hong Kong producer,Julia Chu (Fagara 2019 , Fatal Visit 2018), having secured adeal with iQiyi, the biggest streaming platform in China andis now raising the rest of the production fund. She is alsoattached as a director for my third feature project indevelopment, Shropshire Lass, by Finite Films.In 2017, her feature film, The Vanishing Time, wascommissioned by Hong Kong Art Development Council and wasselected in JETS co-production scheme during Berlin filmFestival. In 2015-16, her feature project, Nocturnal, wasselected by Film London Microwave award for development. In2014, she was shortlisted For film London’s London CallingPlus as well as Creative England’s iFeatures award.
