Biography

Annette Westwood is a director and writer from the West Midlands, specialising in live-action fiction and drama. Annette has a passion for telling bold, brave & diverse stories and making poetic social realistic films. 

Annette’s Midlands based film production company Hawkwood Productions has recently produced short films WHOEVER YOU ARE…, the film receiving worldwide distribution with American entertainment company IndieFlix, through its global streaming service and most recently produced THIS LITTLE GIRL. THIS LITTLE GIRL is a short film supported by BFI NETWORK with National Lottery funding and recently had its world premiere at BAFTA Qualifying Underwire Festival 2022.
 
Annette has participated in the BFI NETWORK Treatment Lab, being one of the writers to take part, gaining an oversight of the development process of writing a feature film treatment, along with participating in the BFI NETWORK Film Hub Midlands Directors Series & BFI NETWORK Short Film Writers Lab.

 Annette has experience working as a professional actor and trained at Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (BA Acting).
