Biography
I am an experienced producer/director with the ability to distil complex subject matter into accessible narratives, creating gripping films that emotionally resonate with audiences. I am very interested in developing stories from a seed of an idea through the narrative building, production, and post-production processes, owning a film from start to finish. I pride myself in my ability to connect with contributors from across broad spectrum of humanity, from NASA astronauts to African activists, able to draw out authentic and honest insights, whether engaging experts during interview or capturing intimate actuality footage with vulnerable people in sensitive environments.
I am a first-rate self-shooter, comfortable behind the lens whether lighting and conducting formal interviews or covering frenetic action in extreme locations. I also delight in projects where there is budget to collaborate with camera and lighting crews shooting on cinema lenses.
I am very creative in the edit, comfortable working alongside experienced editors, or cutting myself on Adobe Creative Suite. Either way, I interrogate the emotional response I want to illicit from each sequence, before building the story with layers of engaging first-person testimony, sound design and music, alongside a selection of meticulously researched archive, self-shot actuality, confessional insights from presenter-talent and dramatic narrative sequences with actors.
