Biography
Jamie Benyon is an award-winning writer and director whose work blends tension, heart, and comedy with a sharp eye for character. Winner of the IMDb Script to Screen Award, his short ‘Two Minutes’ won the Audience Award at the BFI London Film Festival and Best Comedy at both Flickers’ Rhode Island (Oscar-qualifier) and Discover Film Festival. The film has screened at five Oscar-qualifying festivals globally.
His scripts have been shortlisted by the BBC Comedy Writersroom and reached the semi-finals of both the Short Scripts Competition and the Filmmatic Comedy Awards. His recent crime-comedy, ‘The Wheelman’ was longlisted by Emmy-nominated Michael Jamin as a top script in the Center Frame Selects competition.
Jamie was mentored by BAFTA-winner Tom George (This Country) through Directors UK Inspire, and he edited the feature, ‘A Clever Woman’, officially selected for the Edinburgh Film Festival. He’s drawn to stories about men under pressure, dysfunctional families, and using comedy as a coping mechanism.
