Bindu de Stoppani

Bindu is an award-winning Screenwriter, Showrunner and Director who initially trained as an actress (at the Drama Centre London) before making her move behind the camera. 

Born in India, Bindu grew up in North Devon, the USA and Switzerland and after many years in London, is now based in South East England.

She wrote and directed her first short film in 2000, THINGS I NOTICE, THINGS YOU SEE starring (a then unknown) Michael Fassbender, followed by many other shorts. 

In 2012 Bindu wrote and directed her first feature film JUMP (Hugofilm/Manmade Films/RSI) which won five BIFFs at the 2012 festival including Best Director and Best Feature Film. Her second feature FINDING CAMILLE premiered at the Rome Film Festival in 2017 to great acclaim. 

In 2020 (after the first Lockdown) Bindu shot her third feature 40 AND CLIMBING (Hugofilm Features/Cinedokke/RSI) which was released in the cinemas and on tv in Europe in the autumn of 2021.

In 2021 Bindu also shot two seasons of the Netflix series she created (Showrunner), co-wrote and Directed, entitled AN ASTROLOGICAL GUIDE FOR BROKEN HEARTS. 
Season 1 was launched on the streamer (in 190 countries) in October 2021. Season 2 was released on Netflix in the spring of 2022.

In the Uk Bindu Directed two Episodes of SILENT WITNESS (season 26) which was released on BBC1 in January 2023.

She is currently in Post Production with SIGNORA VOLPE Season 2, for AcornTV which will be released in 2024.

Bindu is an industry advocate for increasing the accessibility and presence of female talent both in front of and behind the camera.
