Biography

Affectionately dubbed "Lady D" by her actors, Abbie Lucas is a film director based in London. For close to a decade she has forged a wide and varied career path, in both creative and technical roles. In 2018, Levile TV listed her as one of the Top 20 Rising Female Filmmakers in the UK. She is a member of Directors UK and BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew 2021.

Her recent film credits include a black and white screwball comedy web series A QUICK FORTUNE, which was officially selected for festivals worldwide including Raindance in London, a comedy short titled WRONG DIRECTION which was officially selected for the London Independent Film Festival and the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival (BAFTA Cymru qualifying), the award winning TESTING GRETA an unusual story about domestic abuse, which took the 'Greeks of the World' Prize at the 40th Drama Film Festival in Greece and was screened at the BAFTA recognised Aesthetica Film Festival in 2018, and another short comedy titled DEAD TIRED which was been nominated for Best Script and Best Comedy at the Beeston Film Festival 2018 and also for Best International Comedy at the Austrian Film Festival 2018. In 2020 she completed two more dark comedies, GOOD VIBRATIONS and THE HANKERBOX, and in 2022 she completed CAPTURE HER and VOICES, all of which are on the festival circuit.

Her 2nd collaboration with Comedy Duo "Hunt the Vigan" titled BOOBIES IN A BOX, a parody infomercial about public breastfeeding, went viral (with over 8 million views) having been picked up by several online publications including the Huffington Post and Upworthy. 

As a theatre director she has had shows performed at The Criterion, Soho Theatre, Pleasance London, Southwark Playhouse, Upstairs at the Gatehouse, Theatre 503, The Old Red Lion, Tristan Bates, Riverside Studios, Arts at the Old Fire Station in Oxford and the Groundlings Theatre in Portsmouth. 

She has worked on a number of scripts with various co-writers including;  MONEYSHOT a darkly comic 30min sitcom about cam models set in Detroit (with Kevin Kautzman and Lenny Platt), CHICKEN CHICAS a 30min sitcom about two wannabe influencers who start a love and relationship podcast (with Catherine O'Shea), FALLING BACK IN a romantic comedy feature about divorce which was a semifinalist in the 2020 Final Draft Big Break Competition (with Shamir Dawood and Billie Vee), GREY DUCK a coming of middle age dramedy feature that came second place in the script competition at the 2021 Hamilton Film Festival, PICKLEBALL a Caddy Shack-esque sports comedy feature, CONVERTIBLE an anthology feature about a 1960 Fiat 500 Transformable and DOUG MUST DIE a comedy about a life coach who falls in love with death (all with Kevin Kautzman).Ms Lucas is also the co-author / photographer for a coffee-table book titled Great British Pub Dogs published by Little Brown Book Group
