Biography

Paisley is a writer, director and producer who was born in rural Vermont and moved to Scotland as a teenager. In 2012, she graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Master’s degree in English Literature and relocated to London to work in the arts. Her commitment to analogue processes eventually brought her to The London Film School where she was accepted to the MA filmmaking programme. Over the course of three years Paisley wrote, directed and worked across many films, with specific attention to celluloid.

Paisley's graduation film Birch shot on Super 16mm, was nominated for the Camera 300 Award at The Manaki Brothers International Cinematographer’s Film Festival in September. Most recently, the film was also selected for the BSC Emerging Cinematographer’s Award, where it won the Best Student Film. 

As a producer, her latest project directed by Zhannat Alshanova, End of Season, had its world premier at Cannes’ 2018 La Cinéfondation Award. Paisley is currently in preproduction for Zhannat’s next film, whilst also in development for her own feature film to be set in Scotland.

Birch is a short film from writer-director Paisley Valentine Walsh, starring newcomer Austin Horick, amongst a supporting cast of non-actors. The film was shot on location in central Vermont, USA. Birch was captured on Super 16mm film and purchase was supported by Kodak Motion Picture. The film’s post-production, which was funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, was completed in September 2018. Birch is currently on the international festival circuit. 2018
