Biography

Lucy Campbell is a UK based writer/director. Her award winning short films (BFI, Film4, Film London, Creative England, Fox Digital) have been programmed in multiple UK and international festivals. She directed Creeped Out 2 for CBBC broadcast May 2019, BAFTA nominated best drama.  Originally studying literature and creative writing, she subsequently trained as a medical doctor, working for fifteen years as a GP in the deprived inner city district of Gorton, Manchester, alongside providing medical care to asylum seekers who had been tortured in their country of origin, working with The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture.

She is drawn to female led horror as a paradoxically safe space to interrogate the politics and psychology of the female body and female experience, and to tell stories of risk-taking women. Alumni of Edinburgh International Film Festival Feature writing programme Network 2013, and EIFF Talent Lab 2016, BFI London Film Festival Talent Lab 2016 and 2017. Adapt to Film BFI/EM Media writing programme 2017. School of Sound 2011, 2019. Torino Film Lab intensive scriptwriting programme June 2019. Shortlisted for Sundance Writers Lab 2020.She has three features in development, THE PIG CHILD with BFI/Delaval Film, as story by/director, with award winning playwright Dawn King, INSECT with Fox Digital/Hulu (as writer/director) and elevated horror BREAST with Torino Film Lab (as writer/director) currently shortlisted for Sundance Writers’ Lab 2020.

She is represented by Ikenna Obiekwe at Independent Talent.
