Biography

I'm a film maker and artist. I was raised on the west coast of Scotland, and now live in the rural Lake District. My early career was marked by technological innovation in early new media art – for example, prototyping what became blogging in the online travelogue, ‘A Hypertext Journal’ (1996) and live-webcasting artists’ commissions for the first time in 2002 for ‘TV Swansong’. I co-founded Somewhere with Nina Pope in 2001 and we continue to make films and public realm projects, handling all aspects of development, production and distribution for most of our feature docs. With our latest multi award-winning film, The Closer We Get (2015), we have led over two years of outreach and impact work within health & social care and the criminal justice system.
