Biography

Markus has worked in the film and commercial industry for 10 years. As a commercial director he has worked on over 30 TV and Online commercials for brands ranging from Coca Cola to Unilever. Often with a touch of comedy and the absurd, he tends to cross the line in the best and worst ways.
In the last four years, Markus directed 3 award winning short films and produced 2 feature films and 2 successful web-series as well as numerous short and online videos.
His most recent short 'BAD NEWS' was a winner of the Directors UK and Arri Trinity Challenge , and was screened at the Vue West End as part of the competition in early 2020. Since then it has gone to London Independent Film Festival and has been screened at several Lockdown online events.

His short film ‘Shelter’ a World War 2 drama starring Jack O’Connel, Michael Smiley and Ed Stoppard, has been screened in festivals around the U.K. and internationally.

He is working with writer Mario Theodoru on an adaptation of his short film ‘Anonymous’, which was completed in early 2017 and will premier at the East End Film Festival later on this year.

Born in a microscopic Bavarian mountain village he grew up isolated from the film and television world. Aged 14, Markus moved to Australia where all that changed and he made his first short film (a documentary about teenage romances in a school environment) to impress a girl… It was very meta. He then moved on to form an international drama group in Sweden with whom he wrote and directed two comedy stage shows, assisted Andrew Macdonald at DNA Films, Set PA’d on a number of feature films and worked his way up to 1st AD several Features and TV Pilots as well as EPK content for Channel 4 and Mammoth Film.
