Pratyusha Gupta

Pratyusha was born in Madras, India. She has worked in documentary, television and advertising in Mumbai for over six years. She graduated with an MA in Filmmaking (Direction) from the London Film School in March 2013.

Born to parents from very different communities in India, Pratyusha has always been fascinated by questions of identity, class and religion- themes that dominate her films. Her focus has been on developing strong, honest characters and tracing their journey within a realistic, yet poetic style. 

Pratyusha has just completed her next short film ‘Oysters’ that has been commissioned by Film London and the BFI NET.work under their London Calling Plus scheme. Pratyusha was also shortlisted for the Microwave Shakespeare India feature program in 2015. Her previous short ‘Safar’ has travelled extensively to festivals having won the audience award for best short film at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and as well as in Stuttgart in 2015.  She currently lives in London and is developing two feature length films as a writer/director while having started her own production company in 2015 called Portmanteau Pictures. FILMOGRAPHY
