Kristiene Clarke is has numerous Broadcast, NGO, Charity and Third sector documentary credits to her name. She worked as a Producer / Director on the BBC's flagship arts series ARENA, has made films for all the other major UK channels and for various global broadcasters. Her films have won awards at many International Film Festivals and she has had the privilege of having work screened at the Berlinale, the United Nations, Festival International Film de Femmes, Creteil, National Film Theatre, the ICA , Houses of Parliament, the Directors Guild of America, AFI and the Smithsonian Museum. Kristiene’s last film ' Give Stigma The Index Finger ' for IPPF /UN /WHO featured Annie Lennox (Singer and UN Goodwill Ambassador ) had its world premiere at the United Nations conference on Aids in Vienna and was screened at the Milan Mix Internationale’ film festival shortly afterwards. It has also been chosen for the International Red Ribbon Film Festival , Ghana. She recently completed a 90 second commercial ‘ Criminalize Hate Not HIV’ for IPPF/UN ( 18 languages )

These two films spearheaded an international campaign to create change around the issues of HIV/AIDS transmission and criminalization.
As a practising filmmaker Kristiene has filmed all over the world and she specializes in the drama of real life stories, strong characters , candid intimate testimonies and well crafted visual narratives . Her work has looked at those individuals and subjects that fall outside the mainstream, exploring cultural , political and sexual diversity, questioning stereotypes and challenging bigotry and prejudice on many levels . Subjects range from sexual representation; queer identity; human rights; social activism; the criminal justice system; child abuse and youth detention to films celebrating individual artistic achievement. Contributors have come from a variety of backgrounds and from all walks of life - some who have been involved in drug trafficking; gun and gang violence; others who have suffered sexual exploitation; and those who have challenged society’s norms through their lifestyle choices. Kristiene has also worked with individuals who have been at the highest levels of their ‘careers’ be they Hollywood directors, artists, actors, writers, cultural critics and pop stars through to company chairmen, sportsmen, law enforcement officials , investigative journalists, surgeons and doctors, lawyers of every flavour and politicians who have been elected to public office.
In addition to the intellectual rigour and analysis needed when making documentary films Kristiene also brings a good hands-on working knowledge of current film / digital production and post-production processes, techniques and technology , combined with a strong editorial judgment and years of experience of applying this to single films and series across multiple broadcast channels and non-broadcast formats. She is able to construct original, educative and entertaining films which interpret self-devised ideas or others’ stories and proposals in an imaginative, and creative way. Demonstrating the full artistic potential of the documentary form, effectively conveying the intention, style and tone of the individual film or series. She also has a thorough understanding of the demands of story-telling and the ability to write detailed treatments for submission to commissioning editors, broadcasters, distributors , sales agents and other organizations.
Kristiene is also an effective communicator who has taught at university and vocational level where she passed on her skills, ideas and analysis of the industry and its practice in a thought-provoking way to a wide-range of students and other creative partners. She has taught groups of students in the formal setting of the lecture theatre as well as offering supervision whilst they gain experience in a professional setting. Kristiene also has experience of one-to- one mentoring and delivering master-classes in locations as diverse as prisons, young peoples detention facilities , corporate boardrooms, summer camps, favelas in Brazil and at film festivals and other cultural forums throughout the world. When not making films Kristiene can usually be found ‘messing around on boats ‘. She sailed her own boat on the east coast for many years and recently crossed the Atlantic, both ways, on a 46ft yacht.
