Richard Clark

After studying Architecture at Cambridge University Richard began making short films and documentaries leading to his breakthrough film HUNGRY, which won several international festival prizes. Following a stint shooting commercials he returned to directing high profile British TV drama  - LIFE ON MARS, SILENT WITNESS, WHITECHAPEL, THE MUSKETEERS and THE CRIMSON FIELD. His collaboration with Neil Gaiman on the DR WHO episode THE DOCTOR’S WIFE won him a Hugo Award and the Ray Bradbury Sci-Fi Award.

Authored worked includes the single film GUNRUSH starring Tim Spall and the three part serial MIDWINTER OF THE SPIRIT, written by Stephen Volk and starring Maxwell Martin. His 4-part serial, INNOCENT, written by Chris Laing and starring Lee Ingleby and Hermione Norris, got rave reviews and the highest audience figures for any new ITV drama in 2018.  

International TV shows include two episodes of the first series of the Amazon hit OUTLANDER and lead director on the third series of the Netflix/BBC2 show VERSAILLES. He has recently finished directing four episodes of WAR OF THE WORLDS for Fox/Canal+ starring Gabriel Byrne and Elisabeth McGovern.

Richard continues to develop projects for film and tv. He created THE BAY for ITV with writer Daragh Carville and has written two original feature scripts - THE CONTAINER and THE FORGOTTEN COAST.
