Cein McGillicuddy

Hi, I'm Céin (pronounced "Keen" or "Key-un" if you're Irish).

I'm originally from the Black Country in the West Midlands. I specialise in comedy and work across both scripted and non-scripted television formats; devotedly crafting, leading and delivering confident and ambitious, warm and funny TV.

In scripted, I'm the co-writer/creator and director of BBC comedy series Top Coppers, BBC true crime spoof Sexy Murder and the Channel 4 comedy thriller pilot Law Man. I directed Series 10 and 11 of BBC's BAFTA winning children's comedy series Horrible Histories from which I was asked to direct the third series of the CBBC hit Andy and the Band.

I fell in love with writing and directing as a boy, making my own B-movies with my brothers. Our biggest hits were 'Gator' and 'Gator II: He's Back!', using an inflatable alligator lilo. They were rubbish. My focus is in finding the 'soul' of the project and approaching it with genuine heart, so audiences are left feeling fulfilled.

I've also written and directed across various comedy entertainment, factual entertainment and documentary formats, most notably as the showrunner (series director, writer & exec producer) for the epic return of GamesMaster after 23 years, the 90s cult video game challenge series where I was responsible for conceiving and implementing the creative vision that faithfully captured the spirit of the original while also satisfying a new 2020s audience.

I was recommend for GamesMaster by Channel 4 following a series of successful fact ent formats, including Peng Life for E4, Spencer and Vogue for C4 and In Bed with Jamie for E4, all of which were commissioned to series from my original pilots.

I've also completed numerous projects for E4's BAFTA winning structured reality series Made in Chelsea as well as directing the series itself.
