Biography
Alan Knight – Brief Bio/Filmography
I was employed as a film editor for many years, working on Feature Films, Documentaries, TV Dramas,
Commercials and Promos etc. The majority of the projects were produced for BBC, Channel 4 and UK
independent TV. I also spent some time working as a writer, and was employed by the Multi-Media
Corporation in London, creating scripts and voice overs for interactive CD-Rom’s. I also developed a
feature length screenplay with a production company in Holland, titled ‘A Lost Romance’. During this
period I developed and wrote other feature film projects. I am also a photographer, and have a book of Glasgow photographs published in 2010 by Stenlake Publishing, Scotland, titled 'Glasgow at the Crossroads'.
I produced and directed a film documentary/essay in the late 90's titled 'The Art of Survival'; a study
of Bosnians exiled in London. The film was acquired by ZDF in Germany and broadcast on ARTE. After
setting up a small company in Edinburgh to produce film and multimedia products for the commercial
market, I returned to documentary projects, and in 2007 completed a 52 min film titled 'Back to
Sarajevo', a lyrical study of the Bosnian capital 10 years after the war. The film won best documentary
award at the Roma Documentary Festival. In May 2008 I visited China to research another documentary project, ‘Shenzhen: The Future of China?’. A trailer was produced from this research, and funding for this feature documentary is still being sought. More recent films include ‘Ghost Show’, a film about the Travelling Showpeople of Scotland, and ‘Voices from the Barras’, a documentary celebrating Glasgow’s most famous street market. I have also recently produced a number of video clips for Newsnet Scotland and Scottish Times online newspapers.
As well as working in UK I have worked in Switzerland, Italy, Bosnia, Serbia, Cyprus, China, Finland.
