Biography
Marisol Adler is the director and writer of the feature film BORICUA that premiered at the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival. Boricua also went on to win the Audience Favourite Award at the Chicago Latino film festival and was the official selection at The Chicago International festival. Boricua was acquired by Universal/Screen Media for distribution. In 2004/2005 Marisol travelled to Iraq to make her second feature film, a documentary entitled INTERPRETING IRAQ, which tells the story of an Iraqi interpreter (Fadi "Freddie" Fahil) who had been targeted by insurgents for working with the Americans. Since 2005 she has directed several episodes of Law & Order and law & order: Criminal Intent. In 2009 Marisol journeyed to South Africa to document a true story about witchcraft, police corruption and murder in a remote area of Zululand, which is currently being adapted for the screen. In 2010, she made three trips to Afghanistan. On her last trip there, Marisol travelled to the mountains of Afghanistan to interview and photograph Afghanistan’s only female warlord. In 2010 and 2011, Marisol. directed LAW & ORDER:UK, and most recently in 2012, directed SINBAD for Sky Atlantic and BBC World Wide. In 2016 - 2017 Marisol has directed 3 episodes of THE NIGHT SHIFT, THE BRAVE, and BLINDSPOT, for NBC UNIVERSAL; LUCIFER for FOX. In 2018 She directed episodes of THE GOOD DOCTOR, STATION 19, GRAND HOTEL, MANIFEST, and RIVERDALE. On the writing side, she was a staff writer on season one of FALLING WATER. In addition to Directors UK, Marisol is also a member of the Director’s Guild of America, The Writer’s Guild of America and of The London Photographic Association, where much of her war zone photography can be viewed.
