Matt Holt

Matt is a prolific Rose d’Or winning drama and comedy director, with over a decades worth of experience under his belt. He directed the first series of A Kind of Spark, which was nominated for an Emmy and has just wrapped on season two. Prior to that he shot Perfect, a critically acclaimed comedy for UKTV and both series of the sitcom Jack and Dean of All Trades starring Jessica Hynes, which won a Series of The Year Award.

Other narrative credits include Eastenders, Emmerdale, the comedy musical All Killer, and Hollyoaks, for which he received a Best Single Episode nomination at the British Soap Awards. Meanwhile he has recently directed his first block of Coronation Street.

He’s also a much-in-demand director of children’s scripted television. He directed the most recent series of Horrible Histories, including the Rose d’Or winning Black British History episode, and was series director on the hugely popular Andy and the Band for CBBC. Prior to that he directed both series of Spy School, which was nominated for a BAFTA.

​In addition, Matt has extensive comedy entertainment experience, where he’s worked on shows including Saturday Night Takeaway, The Mash Report, and Off Their Rockers. He also directed the UK shoots for Sacha Baron Cohen’s series Who is America?

​Matt’s work in commercials includes films for Nike, Lego, & Barclaycard, and he won a Cannes Lion for his Little Casanova campaign.

​Valued above all else for his unique relationships with talent of all ages, his forensic understanding of script, and his calm demeanour, Matt directs for both single and multi-camera. He lives in the North-West, and retains a base in London.

He currently has series ideas in development with Colin Firth's company, Raindog Films and a Rosie Jones' scripted project with Various Artists Limited.
