Biography
Stephen Fingleton is a writer-director born in Northern Ireland. He was selected by Screen Daily as a 2013 Star of Tomorrow, described as “hotly tipped” by Variety and the Irish Independent named him as one “14 names to watch in 2014. Stephen's short film SLR was nominated for an IFTA aware and shortlisted for an Academy Award. His screenplay THE SURVIVALIST was voted onto Hollywood’s Black List topped the UK Brit List for the year’s best unproduced scripts. His 2015 debut feature THE SURVIVALIST was critically acclaimed and Stephen won numerous awards including the BIFA Douglas Hickox prize for Best Debut, and he was nominated for a BAFTA for Outstanding Debut.His crime feature NIGHTRIDE (2022) was Ireland’s first one shot feature film and was bought as a Netflix UK Original sold internationally by Pulsar Content. It was described by the Irish Examiner as “perhaps Ireland’s best ever b-movie noir” and went on to win an IFTA for Best Actor (Moe Dunford), the BIFFF Black Raven prize for Best Thriller, It was also nominated for a BIFA for Breakthrough Producer (Paul Kennedy).
