Biography

An inventive and adaptable filmmaker having worked across a range of factual programme genres from history, crime, science, obs-doc and medical to current affairs, consumer and investigations.

Whatever the project I can be depended upon to produce compelling stories and striking images. Able to turn my hand to filming everything from the excitement of scuba diving on a pirate wreck, flying Eurofighter or gun-toting drama reconstructions, to the sensitivity of those facing illness, surgery or drug addiction. I am adept at finding engaging contributors and spotting gripping storylines. On location I’m just as happy getting the very best out of seasoned presenters as I am putting nervous contributors at ease or filming drama reconstructions with cast and crew.

A strong storyteller, I am organised and creative in the edit and also cut using Avid and Final Cut Pro. Confident filming in remote and demanding environments, I have a wealth of overseas experience.

I approach every challenge with enthusiasm, organisation and excellent problem-solving and leadership skills. Filming: A very experienced and creative lighting camera operator / self-shooting director with advanced BBC training on full HD cameras. I shoot on all sorts of cameras, including Sony F800 / PMW500 etc., DSR, Digi, EX, Canon XF305, PMW200 and Canon 5D / C300. Experienced using equipment in extreme conditions and rigging mini-cams on everything from biplanes to a jouster’s lance.

Scripting & Journalism: Strong storytelling and scripting skills backed up by solid journalism and rigorous editorial judgement.
