Biography

James grew up near Châtel-St-Denis in Switzerland. During his childhood, he had the chance to travel and discover not only Switzerland, but most of Europe, America, Bornéo, Australia and Egypt. At 15, he decided to go and study in England. Originally planning to pursue a career in engineering, he then discovered Art & Design. After graduating, he was accepted at ECAL (Ecole Cantonale d’Art Lausanne) in Switzerland, and after just over a year went on to complete an apprenticeship as a 3D Polydesigner at the CEPV (Centre d’Enseignement Professionel Vevey). Having his mind set to learn about Film, he made arrangements to go study "Media Technology for Film & TV" at O’Sullivan College in Montreal, Canada. While at the College, James got to collaborate on several short films in various positions and directed his first 16mm short film, "ioi". By the end of the course, he got his first job on a feature film “Story of Jen” as an art dept. assistant. Working in all aspects of filmmaking, his new training allowed him to get a complete idea of what it takes to make films from pre, to post-production. Coming back to England in early 2009, James got to work with the NFTS (National Film & TV School), the LFS (London Film School) and several independent productions as an art dept assistant, set builder, art director and production designer. In September 2010, James was hired as a permanent Director at the London office of Animated Storyboards, an international animation company creating high quality “animatics” for advertising agencies. In 2013, James Produced and Directed the short film "A Boy's Tale", shot on 16mm. In September 2014, he became freelance Director to learn new skills 3D for VFX and carry on developing some personal projects.
