Biography
Martin Denham is a creative producer, writer and director. Originally from the North East, he graduated from Cumbria Institute of the Arts in 1997 with a degree in Media Production. His career began as an AD on commercials, short films and corporate videos before cutting his directorial teeth on broadcast promos. Over the years he’s produced a lot of commercial content for a wide variety of high street brands and worked with many television personalities, music acts and Hollywood stars. Martin was 1st AD & 2nd Unit Director on the feature film ‘Dark Signal’ for Executive Producer Neil Marshall and has made several narrative short films including a film noir adaptation of 'OTHELLO', which won 'Best Film Inspired by Shakespeare' at the Shakespeare Film Festival in 2018. Festival patron Sir Kenneth Branagh said of the film: "Great assurances in the performances... There is a real confidence to the direction... Visually impressive, and even lush, it has a great maturity cinematically...". Martin also won best music video at AAA New Music Awards in 2007 for ‘Kill Romeo’ by Smith 6079, shot by BAFTA nominated cinematographer Sam Care. Martin is represented by 1 Artists’ Agency, is secretary of the Writers/Producers/Directors branch at BECTU, runs a screen acting workshop at The Actors Centre, teaches filmmaking & script analysis for the International School of Screen Acting at 3Mills Studios, works as a private script consultant and is currently developing projects for his production company Go Big Pictures.
