John Geraint

Recipient of a Royal Television Society award for his outstanding contribution to television, John's credits for Green Bay include 'Do Not Go Gentle', nominated alongside blue-chip series 'Band of Brothers' and 'Blue Planet' at the 2002 Banff Rockies, one of the world's foremost media prizes; ‘Gêm y Ganrif' (Game of the Century) which scooped the top prize at the 2006 Celtic Film and Television Festival, the Gold Torc for Spirit of the Festival; the drama series ‘Calon Gaeth' (Small Country) and feature-length documentaries ‘Fel Arall' (Otherwise), and ‘Carwyn' winners of BAFTA Cymru Awards; and teh BBC's authoritative landmark history of teh nation 'The Story of Wales' (2012). Dr. John Geraint was previously at the BBC where he had a distinguished 20-year career as a programme-maker and executive, leading a department of 430 programme-makers, and doubling network output from Wales to a record £17million p.a. with hits like family drama Magician's House, the Oscar-nominated Canterbury Tales and the global adventure series Extreme Lives. John is a trustee of the Arts Council of Wales. From 2008-2011, he served as a member of the Wales Employment and Skills Board advising Ministers on skills, training and business development across the whole range of the Welsh economy. John is Chair of Zoom Cymru, a media development charity for young people which incorporates a major international festival of children's film. Based in the former South Wales coalfield, Zoom recently won a major Big Lottery grant to expand its activities across the nation.
