I am a very experienced director with extensive credits on both TV and film drama, praised for my visual flair, strong communication, unflappable approach and trust, economy and ability with actors. One producer described me as ‘the most naturally talented director they had ever worked with’. I have been directing professionally since 2000, stepping straight from film school into training on Albert Square, and created many memorable storylines for ‘EastEnders’, ‘Coronation Street’, ‘Emmerdale’, 'Doctors', 'Hollyoaks', 'Holby City', 'Waterloo Road' and ‘River City’. My episodes have often been nominated, and won industry awards including the prestigious Best Episode award at the Soaps On these fast-paced, high volume shows I really learnt my craft, directing consistently high quality work that keeps me in constant demand. It was also on the soaps that I learnt the story-telling process – both good and bad – and became acutely aware of what appeals to an audience, and how to relate to them emotionally. This experience stood me in great stead when I directed numerous award-winning drama series, including ‘The Preston Passion’, starring Samantha Bond, Ronald Pickup, Tom Ellis and Paul Barber. I previously directed all five episodes of BBC One's popular drama '32 Brinkburn Street' which was nominated for Best Show at the Broadcast Awards, and on both series 1 & 2 of the hugely successful 'Land Girls' – which picked up the same award 2 years previously, as well as a host of others. But my skill is not just limited to straight drama. Last year saw the release of my first feature film, 'The Devil Went Down To Islington', a darkly comic take on the Faustian legend starring Spencer Brown, James Lance and Michael Smiley. Low-budget, but with high ambition the film was shot on location in North London. Reviews have been favourable and the movie is starting to gather a following! As a director my strength is the great energy he brings to a project and my ability to build a strong and united cast and crew. I amcomfortable with actors, coaxing great performances, putting the performers at ease whilst ensuring maximum efficiency of time - crucial in the current climate. As my films display I have a classic, beautiful but dynamic visual style that ensures the focus always remains on telling the story with the most effective blend of picture, performance and dialogue.
