Michael Prince

I’m a highly experienced Producer / Director – often self-shooting, with network credits for BBC, ITV and C4.


I’m a confident and creative ob doc self-shooter (Canon C300 & Sony FS7 MKII), and always take a visual approach to my filmmaking. I enjoy the ideas and problem-solving process, working creatively with crew and production team. I’m confident directing crews and two cameras, or equally happy to self-shoot sequences, making the most of prime lenses and new technology to find the most interesting and original way forward.


I regularly script, produce and direct major on-screen talent and have also gained plenty of experience working with new presenters to deliver assured and exciting performances. I have previously series directed large-scale BBC productions such as T in the Park (Lauren Laverne), End of Story (Claudia Winkleman), and The Last Laugh (Dara O’Briain), and my role has often included originating title sequences, set design and overseeing new content motion graphics.


This summer I self-shot ‘Mini Disco Divas’ an ob-doc series for the new BBC Scotland Channel. I have previously produced, scripted, directed, and self-shot BBC arts documentaries including; BBC4 John Irving - My Life In Fiction, BBC Scotland, Rankin Exposed, BBC Scotland, Shooting Franz Ferdinand, and BBC Scotland, Michael Clark's Heroes.


I have also specialised in directing children's programmes including the award winning CBeebies science series Nina and the Neurons, Junk Rescue, Down on The Farm and LazyTown Extra. Victorian Villains – True Stories, featured scripted performances from child actors and drama reconstruction sequences for BBC learning.
