Biography

Multi-skilled, multilingual BBC-trained P/D with 15 years' experience of making Specialist Factual, Current Affairs and Arts programmes for BBC, C4, PBS, Discovery and Arte. Passionate about visually appealing and inventive story-telling based on in-depth research and journalistic rigour. Highly technically literate with professional camera and editing skills. In the right context, I am happy to self-shoot; but I get the best results when directing camera operators and working with craft editors. I am often brought in at short notice. Unfazed by complexity, I enjoy the constant problem-solving of a fast-turnaround. I am efficient and experienced in handling budgets of £100,000+ (but I can also make a micro-budget go a long way, especially on Drama Reconstruction). I bring linguistic skills from German to Zulu, a background in African Politics, and a lifetime of multi-cultural experience to any project, whether in Development or Production.

15 new monologues adapted from Ovid by British playwrights, performed by 15 actors, directed for the stage by 3 directors. Filmed for streaming at Jermyn Street Theatre.  Collaborated with Digital Theatre production team on pre-production, recommended crew.  Prepared for live shoot by watching rehearsal footage and consulting stage directors.  Drew up two bespoke camera plans in response to productions’ different use of space.  Camera-directed 15 monologues over two days, with 4 cameras (no camera rehearsals).  Originated creative proposal for on-screen graphics for Digital Theatre.  Minimally edited filmed monologues in response to stage directors’ notes. 2020
