Biography

Liam Calvert is a director and writer originally from Leeds. He studied Film and Television in Southampton, where he initially focused on editing. However, his passion for directing and writing emerged, and he continued his studies with an MA in Film Production. Whilst at university Liam wrote and directed multiple successful shorts. Liam found work in the AD departments on television shows for BBC, Channel 4 and Disney before moving to London in 2023 where he directed his first feature film, A Night Like This, starring Alexander Lincoln and David Bradley. The film premiered at BFI Flare in March 2025 and has since screened in Italy and Florida. It will play at Frameline in San Francisco in June before playing in UK cinemas in Autumn. Liam is currently developing his second feature, as well as speaking on courses for young filmmakers and working as a script consultant.
