Biography

Rhys Aaron Lewis is a writer-director from London. He has an interest in comedy and quirky films which shine a light on underrepresented communities. He began his career as a documentary filmmaker, making films with BFI Doc Society, the BBC and the Guardian, before venturing into the world of narrative fiction. His most recent short, Run Like We, a coming-of-age tale about an awkward British-Jamaican boy growing up during the London Olympics, was funded by Prime Video UK. The film has screened at many major international festivals including London Short Film Festival, BlackStar Film Festival and The Pan African Film Festival where it won Best Short. His next film, Beach Toys, a social-horror short about the ongoing migrant crisis from the perspective of a black British tourist, was funded by BFI Network and Uncertain Kingdom. The film is currently in pre-production, set to be filmed in September 2025.
