Biography
I began my filmmaking journey in 2007 at the age of 15. Since then, many of the comedy sketches I have written and directed have gone viral, amassing over 100 million views across social media platforms. In 2020, I graduated with a postgraduate diploma in Writing and Producing Comedy from the BAFTA-winning National Film and Television School (ranked as one of the best film schools in the world by Variety and the Hollywood Reporter). The course, sponsored by Channel 4 and Netflix, gave me invaluable skills and insights into the industry.
In 2023, I was selected to participate in ITV’s Comedy Writers Initiative, which led to my involvement in ITV’s Fresh Cuts in 2024. This allowed me to make my directorial debut with Alter Egos, an ITVX-first series developed from my own idea. You can watch the series here: https://www.itv.com/watch/alter-egos-fresh-cuts/10a6029.
In 2015, my film Patient 4318 was screened both on UK national television and in Hollywood at the African American Film Market. I started performing stand-up comedy in 2012 and, by 2013, was selected for a prestigious apprenticeship with BBC Comedy. This experience allowed me to work in content creation and development across various BBC departments, including BBC 1Xtra, CBBC, and BBC Three.
In 2017, my script Mary’s Room was shortlisted by Creative England (now Creative UK) for the Shortflix programme. The script was also developed by BFI’s Film London and went on to be nominated for a Screen Nation Award. Over the years, I have written and directed several award-winning short films that have been screened on the BBC, including an interactive drama for BBC Africa/Arts starring Brit Award-winner Stormzy. My two short plays have been staged at the Laurence Olivier Award-winning Theatre 503 in South London.
In 2018, I won the ScreenSkills Short Film Award for my short film Reflection, which was screened at the British Film Institute. My other short film, Distance, was screened in Budapest and won the Channel 4 Values Award. My graduation film Insta Grim won Best African Diaspora Film at the 23rd African Film Awards and a Silver Award at the Dark Comedy Film Festival in LA.
As a co-founder of the film collective Lionstooth, I work alongside my cohorts to produce innovative shorts and content. We’ve hosted several sold-out screenings at BAFTA and Channel 4 Headquarters. In 2020, I wrote and directed a lockdown feature film called Drapetomania, which is now available, followed by my 2021 feature film Double Booked.
Storytelling has always been at the core of my work, whether it’s through comedy, drama, or innovative formats, and I am constantly inspired to create engaging and impactful content.
