Biography
Meenu Gaur is a British-South Asian writer and director.
Meenu is currently working as Lead Director and Executive Producer on Mammoth Screen's upcoming adaptation of The Forsyte Saga.
Meenu has directed Murder is Easy, the latest Agatha Christie adaptation from Mammoth Screen and Agatha Christie Limited for BBCOne, BritBox, and PBS Masterpiece. Murder is Easy stars David Jonsson, Penelope Wilton, and Morfydd Clark. Murder is Easy was the third most-watched drama on any service in the UK in 2023.
In 2022, Meenu directed two episodes of World On Fire Series 2 with Mammoth Screen for BBC One and PBS.
Her debut fiction feature as writer-director, Zinda Bhaag, was an entry to the foreign film category at the Oscars. Her films have been theatrically released in worldwide territories (including UK, Europe and US, Canada, Australia) and on Netflix and Amazon. The film received fourteen awards, screened at various film festivals and discussed in several publications including The LA Times, The New York Times, Variety, Screendaily, Hollywood Reporter, NPR, and Huffington Post.
Meenu created and directed Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam ("An Ode to Femme Fatales") for Zee5. This noir anthology series received rave reviews and has, to date, won seven awards, including a prestigious Asian Academy Award in Singapore.
Her current feature in development has been part of the Locarno International Film Festival’s Open Doors Programme, and the Berlinale Talent Campus, and the NIPKOW Film Programme in Berlin supported by Berlinale and the Medienboard. She has received several grants for her documentary films including the prestigious Jan Vrijman Fund (IDFA) and the Goteborg Film Fund (Goteborg International Film Festival). She became a member of BAFTA in 2022 through the BAFTA Connect scheme.
