12-year-old introvert Charlie finds herself mercilessly teased by her dormmates in boarding school. Sleep-deprived and lonely, with nowhere to escape to, Charlie conjures up an imaginary friend who provides her with support and companionship. But Charlie soon has to learn that an imaginary confidante alone may not be the best way to get her bullies off her back.
