Biography

Anca Vaida is a multi-award winning actress, director and writer and a BAFTA Connect Member. Anca’s biggest project to this date, the TV Series “Psyched!”, is a medical drama focused on mental health topics, which she wrote, directed and produced. “Psyched!” has over 50 awards and official selections at international film festivals, Anca receiving Best Director awards at World Independent Cinema (Edinburgh, 2023) and Queen Palm International (USA, 2021) and nominations at International Filmmaker Festival (London, 2021), I See You Awards (Michigan, 2021), Fusion Film Festival (London, 2022) and Film Fest International Paris (2023). Other notable directing projects include the short films “Too Important” which screened at the Oscar qualifying 31st Raindance film festival; “Will”, which received Official selections at the New York Shorts International Film Festival (2022) and Women’s International Film &Arts Festival (USA, 2023); “Can We Order First?” and “The Game”. Theatre directing credits include the play “Maybe I do..?” which received an Offie Nomination in the OffFest category; “How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Take?” (Barons Court Theatre), “News From Vauxhall” (The Hope Theatre) and “Me&Her” (Barons Court Theatre). Anca is a film judge at the Believe Psychology Film Festival, LA and a guest lecturer on the Filmmaking BA Course at Middlesex University, teaching the module "Directing Actors". Anca combines her acting, directing and writing work with being a doctor working in the NHS in London.
