Biography
Nadine O’Mahony makes films about wounded people seeking connection. She is a writer/director of Irish and Jamaican heritage who creates character-based stories with striking visuals. Her BFI funded short film Rushed premiered at the BAFTA qualifying Flatpack Film Festival and won Best Breakout film at the Windrush Caribbean Film Festival as well as being selected for Best of the Fest. Rushed is also currently nominated for Shooting People's New Shoot's Filmmaker Awards. Dosed, a Gallery 37 funded film she directed, won Best Micro Short at the San Francisco Arthouse Short Festival, Best Edit at the London International Monthly Film Festival was nominated for Best Short and won Best Supporting Actress at the Midlands Movies Awards. In her spare time, she is head programmer for Screen B14 a non-profit, community cinema and film collective screening independent films such as Poor Things and Peggy Su (with introduction from producer Roger Shannon) as well as fundraising screenings of Limbo and For Sama for Kings Heath Action for Refugees. She also co-hosts The Brum Picture Show a digital radio show and podcast with an irreverent take on film news and reviews on Brum Radio. She is a member of BAFTA Connect and was selected for BFI Network’s Midlands Directors Lab 2024
