DIRECTORS UK AND ARRI PRESENT CHALLENGE TRINITY-WINNING SHORT FILMS
24 January 2020
On Thursday 23 January, Directors UK and ARRI joined forces to screen the latest Challenge TRINITY-winning short films at VUE West End, joined by a full house of fellow directors, industry professionals and cast and crew.
Challenge TRINITY, a competition run by Directors UK and ARRI, gives winning directors access to an array of ARRI shooting equipment – the same equipment used to make Golden Globe-winning single-shot film 1917 - and tasks them with making an original one shot film in one day. The competition receives applications from across the talent pool of Directors UK members, and pitches are encouraged to embrace the unique capabilities of the ARRI TRINITY camera stabilising system.
Screening last night, the Challenge TRINITY-winning films included The Sacrifice by Shona Charlton, Lurker by Charlotte George, Ruth by Paul Romero Méndez and Arturo M. Antolín, Surprise by Bojan Brbora and Bad News by Markus Meedt.
Amy-Jo Bryant, Events and Member Services Manager for Directors UK who also serves as Executive Producer for the ARRI Challenges said: “I never tire of seeing our members’ work on the big screen. Our continued partnership with ARRI gives our members access to world-class equipment, designed with innovative storytelling in mind. Supporting these one shot projects from pitch to screen, I see first-hand how ideas turn from imagination to reality – and how the TRINITY rig brings it all to life.”
ARRI’s Director of Group Business Development and Executive Producer for the ARRI Challenges Milan Krsljanin added: “When talking about his monumental feature 1917, Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes said ‘There is no better way to tell this story than with one continuous shot’. It is in the same spirit that our Challenge TRINITY-winning directors produced their films. Using the same camera package as 1917 - including ALEXA Mini LF, Signature Prime lenses and liberating camera stabilising system TRINITY - they produced remarkable one shot shorts. We can’t wait for these films to be shared on the festival circuit.”
Directors UK remains committed to offering career-focused development opportunities, like the ARRI Challenges, to its members. Through our partnership with ARRI, we are able to offer our members the chance to use the very best equipment without hiring fees and with the expert support of TRINITY operators. By showcasing what they do best in the ARRI Challenges, the directors have another credit to their name, and another piece of work to carry them forward onto their next project.
