The Royal Television Society Awards were staged last night (20th March), with prizes going to Fresh Meat, Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die and a host of other shows.
Fresh Meat, directed by David Kerr, Nick Wood and Annie Griffin, was awarded Best Scripted Comedy, whilst the Charlie Russell-directed Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die took Best Documentary.
Best Arts programme went to Jane Preston’s Graffiti Wars, whilst Best Single Drama was awarded to Eric and Ernie, directed by Jonny Campbell. In Documentary Series, 24 Hours in A&E, directed by Amy Flanagan and Anthony Philipson, was victorious, and in the Entertainment category Derren Brown: The Experiments, which Simon Dinsell directed, took the trophy.
Victoria Bell’s Newsround: My Autism and Me won Best Children’s Programme, with Best Children’s Drama going to Tracy Beaker, directed by Michael Davies and Craig Lines. The Science & Natural History prize went to Kenny Scott’s Mummifying Alan: Egypt’s Last Secret, whilst Best History programme was awarded to Dambusters: Building the Bouncing Bomb, directed by Ian Duncan.
The award for Best Drama Serial went to Yann Demange’s Top Boy, with Drama Series going to the Sam Miller-directed Luther. In Nations and Regions The Scheme, directed by Michelle Friel and Julian Kean, was triumphant, and Will Anderson’s Hugh’s Big Fish Fight took the award for Popular Factual and Features.
There were also awards for Coronation Street (Soap and Continuing Drama) and Deal or No Deal (Daytime Programme).
