NEW EVENT: DCF Craft Debate With Phyllida Lloyd CBE and Piers Haggard OBE

Reading time: 1 minutes and 49 seconds

In this exciting session, the distinguished stage and screen director Phyllida Lloyd will discuss the interplay of film and theatre techniques in her work

When: Doors at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start, Monday 1 July

Where: RADA Studios, 16 Chenies St, WC1 7EX

Phyllida Lloyd’s theatre credits range across 30 years at the highest level in the UK and the US, the most recent being her acclaimed all-female Shakespeare Trilogy at the Donmar, which she also filmed. A string of international award winning opera productions led in 1999 to an offer to direct a stage musical of Mamma Mia! Phyllida’s production has played all round the world and is still running in the West End: her 2008 film is one of the highest grossing British movies of all time. Her other films include Gloriana, a radical adaptation of the Benjamin Britten opera, The Iron Lady for which Meryl Streep won an Oscar, and Herself, shot on a low budget in Dublin, and currently in post production.

Discussing Phyllida’s work with the help of clips will be Piers Haggard OBE, award winning director of theatre, film and television who directed the Dennis Potter TV series Pennies From Heaven. Piers was closely involved in setting up Directors UK, Stage Directors UK, the Directors Charitable Foundation, and back in 1982 the Directors Guild of Great Britain from which all are descended.
