A one-day, trauma free workshop that teaches persuasive ways to present and pitch film and television projects.
Life's a pitch...and then you cry!
Thursday 27 April.
Chapter Arts Centre, Canton, Cardiff.
Open to Directors UK Full, Associate and Distribution-only members in Wales and the South West of England
Exploring techniques that help us convey the essentials, you will learn to deliver a pitch that is effective, clear, memorable and most likely to generate interest.
Areas covered: detail and info that a pitch needs to include; techniques to engage our listeners; preparation; performance nerves.
The workshop is led by David Keating, an award-winning, critically acclaimed film director and screenwriter.
A detailed, interactive workshop on pitching, exploring questions such as:
- What are effective ways to talk about the work we passionately want to make?
- What kind of language can we use?
- What are the most important elements to a strong pitch?
- How long should it be?
- How can we do justice to our projects in X minutes?
- Techniques to engage our listeners
- Performance nerves
- How does pitching get to be fun? (it needs to be).

This course is aimed at directors of all profiles who wish to examine and enhance their pitching skills. This will be an active workshop.

In light of ongoing campaigns, Directors UK are particularly encouraging applications from BAME and women directors, as the industry recognises that both are currently under-represented within film and TV directing generally.
