We’re pleased to announce that director Anna Thomson has been appointed as one of the Directors UK Board Vice-Chairs.
Anna was elected to the Directors UK Board in 2017, and also serves as a trustee of the Directors Charitable Foundation.
Starting her career as an assistant director on feature films in Spain, Anna has gone on to direct drama, specialist factual and observational films. She recently directed the Sundance-backed feature documentary Yoghurt Utopia.
Her other films include A Great British Air Disaster (Channel 4), World War 2: The Last Heroes (Channel 4), Portrait Artist of the Year (Sky Arts), Days That Shook the World (BBC), Al Murray’s German Adventure (BBC), Patisserie with Michel Roux (BBC), Objects of Desire (Sky Arts) and Fatal Attractions (Animal Planet). She currently has several of her own projects in development with production companies.
Anna had this to say about her appointment: “I’m delighted to have been nominated Vice-Chair. Directors UK has become an influential voice within the industry, making a real and positive impact upon the working lives of directors across all genres. I am especially looking forward to taking on a more active role within our diversity campaigning and our schemes tackling bullying and harassment. In addition, I’m helping develop new training initiatives in factual, fighting for improved fee structures and working with our European partner organisations to ensure directors’ rights are respected and maintained in an age of SVOD and with the advent of Brexit”.
