World Productions and BBC are offering a paid placement opportunity for a Directors UK member permanently based in Scotland on the third series of Vigil.
Selected by the production, the successful applicant will gain invaluable experience, joining the director for a block during the prep, shoot, and post stages of production. The placement will offer access to the whole organisational and creative process.
The production offices are based in Glasgow, Scotland.
Who Should Apply?
This opportunity is for a member who has professional experience directing long-form scripted drama, and is ready to move into directing High-End TV (HETV), with a view to developing knowledge and confidence in leading complex productions of this scale.
The ideal candidate will have directed episodes of a returning series or may have directed low budget features.
The production’s aim is to create opportunities for and support directors in Scotland. Therefore, they are looking for directors who have a permanent Scottish residence and are committed to working in the region.
Potentially, the placement director could have the opportunity to gain Second Unit experience, but please note this is not guaranteed.

The placement will begin 13 October 2025 and will end mid-February 2026. This will encompass prep, shoot, and the fine cut of one episode during the second block of filming on the series.
The production aims to interview candidates between Thursday 11 - Tuesday 16 September.
This is a paid opportunity, details of which will be finalised with the successful candidate after the interview stage.
