Are you interested in meeting and collaborating with more d/Deaf, disabled, and/or neurodivergent actors and writers? Do you want to champion access and inclusion both in front of and behind the camera and make your own work richer? In a world where directors can be a driving force for change in our industry, connecting with people has never been more important.
Our Career Development and Skills team are delighted to once again be teaming up with BAFTA award-winning TripleC DANC (the Disabled Artists Networking Community) to offer a series of short meetings that will bring 8 Full and Associate director members together with d/Deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent actors and writers.
TripleC is a disabled-led Community Interest Company whose mission is to drive up the role of disabled people in the arts & media and the role of the arts & media in the lives of disabled people.
These meetings, led by TripleC DANC, will take place over Zoom on Thursday 9 February from 2-5pm.
Do I have to prepare anything?
No - just be prepared to talk about yourself, your work as director, and have any questions ready. The actors and writers will also have some questions for you! We need directors keen to engage with and champion disabled talent and lead the change going forward. This change has already seen advances in the way access and inclusion is now viewed as an essential part of any production.
How many actors and writers will I meet?
There will be around 40 d/Deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent (DDN) writers and actors in the session that afternoon - Directors will be in pairs, and each pair will meet around 10 individuals. The slots would be 10 minutes long with breaks scheduled and BSL (British Sign Language) interpreters included.
