Masterclass: A Career Case Study with Isabelle Sieb

Isabelle Sieb is an acclaimed director, whose TV work includes Episodes 4-6 of the BAFTA-nominated series Vigil with World Productions for BBC One/Peacock, and Shetland for the BBC. Isabelle is currently in post-production on The Devil’s Hour with Hartswood Films for Amazon.

In this masterclass Isabelle will be joined by fellow Directors UK member and founding member of Cinesisters Samantha Harrie to discuss her career journey to date. They will be dissecting scenes from Isabelle’s work, discussing the challenges of directing both big action set pieces and emotionally intimate scenes. They will also be looking at Isabelle’s use of social media to engage with audiences and ways in which she has navigated key decisions to build a sustainable career.

This masterclass will be taking place via Zoom on Tuesday 17 May from 17:00-18:30.

About Isabelle Sieb

Isabelle Sieb is a director of film and television.

Her TV work includes directing episodes 4-6 of the record-breaking hit show Vigil with World Productions for BBC One/Peacock and Shetland for the BBC.

Vigil has been nominated for a BAFTA in the Best Series category.

Isabelle directed episodes 1-6 of The Athena, a BAFTA-nominated series for Sky, starring Ella Balinska. Her short films include Three Women Wait For Death, which won the Chris Collins Best of Live Action Award at the Encounters Film Festival and was long-listed for the Best British Short Film BAFTA 2017.

About Samantha Harrie

Samantha’s career began as a fine-artist until a passion for storytelling led her to filmmaking. She has made numerous award-winning short films and her TV credits include Coming Up, C4, Doctors, Holby City, BBC1 and Call The Midwife, through the prestigious Directors UK / HETV career development placement. Samantha is developing two authored TV series and her first feature. She is a graduate of the NFTS and an alumni of Guiding Lights 2, Microwave , NETWORK EiFF and BFI NETWORK X BAFTA CREW. Samantha is also a founding member of Cinesisters, the female director’s collective.
