Doctors is an award-winning continuing drama which entertains a large and diverse audience four times a week.
Now, in conjunction with BBC Studios and Directors UK, Doctors is offering a fantastic opportunity for four directors to train as part of its production process.
About the training
Based in Birmingham, the scheme will take place across one week from 5 - 9 December 2022, and will include talks from directors, cast, producers and other members of the team.
The four successful directors will be put through the Doctors production process, while preparing scenes to shoot. There will be practical exercises, using cameras, lights and sound.
Throughout the week, the training will introduce core skill sets for continuing drama: script, design, casting, scheduling, blocking, and planning, and how these elements are communicated to crew and cast. The ambition is to develop a body of returning directors who bring their lived and learnt experiences to the Doctors audience.
Applicants will need an established storytelling record: ideally a short film in an accredited or established international film festival, digital content that has achieved a notable audience, or a compelling theatre directing career.
