Biography

Jesse is a writer-director of drama and a self-shooter of documentary. Last year he was awarded a Film + TV Charity John Brabourne Award which he used to write his feature screenplay Sargasso Dreams. In 2020 his short film script Out Of Sight made it to the Finals of the IMDb Script to Screen Competition.
Recent directing credits include The Light Inside - a hybrid documentary short about surviving mental ill-health, funded by The Victoria Wood Foundation, made in partnership with Bath Mind; half-hour BFI drama If You Can Hear Me – also written by Jesse and distributed by 7 Palms Entertainment; and Change Step for Forces Connect South West.
Other credits include Take Five - five short dramas for the Charley Waller Memorial Trust about adolescent mental health;  Isaac -  UK Film Council fiction short, which screened at festivals internationally; A Special Place - documentary shorts series profiling artists and the places that inspire them, nominated for an American Online Film Award;  Shoplifting, Fight and MDMA - three shorts for Somerset Youth Offending Team ; several advocacy films for Restorative Justice; and (as editor) Last Words - feature length documentary about the WWII Battle Of Arnhem as told by surviving veterans.
Jesse is a History graduate of Oxford University and a Directing graduate of the National Film & TV School. His NFTS graduation film Runt won Best Film at Bologna and Brest, the Special Jury Award at Taipei and Special Mentions at Ludwigsburg and Aix-en-Provence, and was one of twenty films chosen to compete in the Cannes Film Festival Cinéfondation competition.
