Biography
Owen Trevor started his career straight out of school, spending a decade crafting award winning short films and music videos, finessing his storytelling from an early age. His talent then got noticed by the producers of BBC Top Gear, where he went on to direct four seasons of the show at the height of its global success.
Soon after, commercials came calling and Owen has since established a worldwide reputation for beautifully crafted humour driven advertising. It is his eye for great performance and clever concepts that drives most of his work, using comedy as a device to drive the story forward. His comedic flair was displayed in Owen’s ‘Sweeet’ campaign for McVities, where adorable animals took centre stage. The campaign got worldwide attention, and mentioned in Time Magazine as ‘The Cutest thing Ever’.
In advertising, Owen has continued to develop his craft in other formats, delivering a string of beautifully judged drama pieces such as his multi-award winning short film “Two Laps” and the pilot for the US TV series, “The Paranormal Files”. TimeOut Sydney gave “A Steady Rain”, the season sell-out noir stage play by Chicago playwright Keith Huff and Owen’s theatre debut, a “compelling” four stars.
Throughout his career, Owen has worked across the spectrum of filmmaking, from the global phenomenon of Top Gear to winning an MTV music video award, gathering 4 million hits on youtube for the short film “Streetfighter: Legacy” and directing the successful IOC bid film for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics 2018 and most recently, his first feature film, ‘Go!’ starring Frances O’Connor and Richard Roxburgh.
